Column in Ang Peryodiko Newspaper

I was pleased to have been recently invited to contribute a regular column regarding Canadian immigration in Ang Peryodiko, The Newspaper for Overseas Filipinos.

My introductory article provided an overview of changes to Canadian immigration rules and programs.  Most recently I discussed changes to the Federal Skilled Worker program.

I strongly believe that prospective immigrants to Canada will benefit from becoming more educated about the process, even where they choose to retain the services of an immigration professional.

Parklands Tour

We visited the Parklands region of Manitoba for a excellent series of meetings and a tour arranged by the MLA for Minnedosa, Leanne Rowat.

We accompanied the Honorary Consul of the Philippines for Winnipeg, Manitoba Mrs. Edda Pangilinan to meet with representatives from the municipalities of Russell, Roblin, Swan River, and Dauphin along with various employers, health authorities, schools, chambers of commerce, immigration service providers and other community members.

The purpose of the meetings was to provide the Consul with an overview of what the region and its communities have been doing to attract and retain newcomers as well as to learn more about opportunities to attract newcomers from the Philippines to the region. I attended along with jobCan’s VP of Canadian Workforce Solutions, Trudy Turner, to provide expertise on the immigration and foreign recruitment process.

See the pictures from our memorable visit!
